Crow and Colville Nations Receive Training
The Pacific Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters recently completed
training with Tribal Partners from The Crow and Colville Nations. The
two-day Tribal Outreach Program addressed hand tool and power tool
safety, proper identification of nail sizes and types, a math review,
proper measuring techniques and various materials typically used for
interior systems work.
Practice included all students working on a nailing practice project. Students also had to build a bird house by properly reading from a blueprint. In the field, work centered on a bridge on the Wyeth In Lieu Site, near Hood River, Oregon. Native Americans also worked side-by-side with non-natives on The Great Wold Lodge just north of Centralla, Oregon.
